On August 2, 2019, Erie’s Public School System made it official as the former Emerson-Gridley School is renamed the Patrick J. DiPaolo Student Success Center.
Patrick worked with many students of all abilities during his time with the district. He was even the first principal of the district’s transitional school, which catered to the needs of some of the district’s alternative learners. The rationale was that an alternative setting could lead to successful outcomes in a student’s learning process.
A year after E-G was closed due to budget constraints, the district consolidated all of their alternative schooling programs and reopened E-G. It is only fitting that the type of school Patrick was originally put in charge of many years ago will now carry his name and be a center of success for all students.
